GREAT QUESTION |
| |
Hey Sir,
Which one do you prefer? Lead boxes or rack/brochure racks in biz and retail
shops?
Hello!
I like to be in control. If someone puts a lead in a registration box I am
in control of making the appointment. If someone takes a brochure or ad
card they are in control if they are ever going to call.
BUT - if I can't place a box, I put in ad cards. ALSO - if I can get in a
box there is a 99% chance of placing ad cards near my box.

JULY MARKETING TIP |
| |
Now is the time to approach Soccer Leagues in your town and tell them how
your school would like to team up with them for a Fund Raising Program to
benefit their team
This program is great to help these teams financially and at the same time
they are selling your program all over town. It's a real win-win situation,
they make well needed money, you have hundreds of people selling your
program, while you are making money on the marketing.
Remember all UP marketing products are now 20% off. Sale ends July 31st. |

Hello,
I saw this article today; Ed McMahon talks about possible home foreclosure
3 days ago:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ed McMahon blames the possible foreclosure of his
multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills house on a set of problems all too
familiar to many Americans: a foundering economy, health problems and poor
planning.
"If you spend more money than you make, you know what happens," McMahon said
Thursday night on CNN's "Larry King Live." For the rest of the article http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hnRDS41TT3Iy0z4ISL2-0fOVA8pQD914JB300
Owning a successful martial arts school can be a great way to become
wealthy. Challenges I see are owners not understanding how to handle the
money they make and therefore living month to month instead of using their
resources for acquiring wealth. I for one don't want to be like Ed McMahon
having to work at age 85.
I am not going to attempt to be your financial advisor but would like to at
least share some ideas and topics that you should address.
-
1. Start saving now. If you are thirty-five years old and say that you will
start saving next year you are not putting off things for a year. You are
really losing 30 years of interest. The Rule of 72 is how to determine how
fast your money will double at a certain interest rate. Divide the
interest rate into 72 and the answer will be the number of years the money
you saved will double. To simplify things if you received an interest rate
of 7% your money would double about every 10 years. So if you saved $5000
this year it will be worth $40,000 by the time you are 65.
-
2. Retirement is going to come one day. I remember being 23 years old and
opening my school in 1973. I sat down with an advisor to set up an IRA.
He explained how much I would have at retirement in the year 2016. In 1973
I had a hard time believing that date would ever come but it's going to be
here in 8 years and I am going to be more than ready because of the early
start I got.
-
3. Are you having to play catch-up? If you are 50 years old you may qualify
for a Defined Benefit Plan - contact a professional and take advantage of
this.
-
4. SAVE - SAVE Many of you are following the Richest Man In Babylon and
have set a goal of saving 10%. That's great however I would suggest 20% up
to 40% of your income saved monthly. Find a good financial advisor and
begin now. Don't go it alone - contact a company like Morgan Stanley and have
someone with lots of experience become you wealth management advisor.
-
5. The stock market is bad right now and the housing market worse so why
should you invest? When people are greedy and the markets are going crazy,
be cautious. Now that people are being cautious it might be a good
opportunity. Buying a first house now might be a good idea, prices are low
as well as our interest rates. If prices drop 20% more, a 1 percent rise in the
interest rates would make the house even more expensive to finance.
-
6. Buy life insurance. One thing I hear all the time is I want to save a
lot so I can leave something for my kids. Buy a $1,000,000 term policy
while you are young and healthy.
-
7. Get the best health insurance you can buy. AFLAC is also great to have,
very inexpensive. Came in handy two years ago for me. I was able to choose
an out of state hospital that specialized in the treatment I was looking
for.
-
8. What's the point of earning a lot of money if I can't enjoy spending
money? I couldn't agree more - you need to treat yourself to toys, vacations
and a nice home, but do this: Save the 20 - 40% first and enjoy the rest.
RS Mitchell offered me this advice. Finance things that appreciate in value. Pay
cash for things that depreciate and all your toys. This will keep you from
becoming a slave to your credit cards.
-
9. If you are in credit card debt, make that a priority to pay off. Then
keep one and tear up the others. The one you keep should get paid off
monthly.
-
10. Plan on retiring rich. Not only will it be more fun, but people are
living longer and longer and you are going to need a larger portfolio.

Kung Fu Panda Kono Magazine Results
How were your results using Kono Magazine for marketing? Some schools
enrolled a ton of students, however those owners didn't just hand away free
magazines. Many had a booth at the theaters to meet and greet people.
Handing out the magazine is great, however you need to attempt to get NAP at
the same time. Sort of --- "Hello, would you mind if I gave your child a fun
martial arts themed magazine. It's full of cool stories as well as
reminders for a healthy lifestyle?" (hand the magazine to the child and
build a little rapport by talking about what's inside the magazine. Then
continue with the parents) "Hi, my name is Greg Silva from Premier
Martial Arts on Power and McDowell, we are hosting free Martial Arts
Confidence and Bully Proof classes this coming month. If you would just
write down your name and number I will have the secretary call you with the
dates and times? It's an awesome educational class for the kids and tons of
fun also. I'll include a free guest pass in case your child would like
to try a free class."
This way at least you have a chance of taking action. The magazine giveaway needs to be a twist on VIP's, not just putting a stack of magazines in
McDonalds and playing the "Sit and Wait" for the phone to ring game.
These passes are a great tool. Just a reminder - SAVE 20% on orders this
month by typing SPECIAL in the coupon when check out.

OUTRAGEOUS PARENTS NIGHT OUT |
|
| |
This is an outrageous idea for this months Parent Night Out, however if you
want to keep things exciting for your kids during summer you need to think
outrageous.
The theme this month is a TIE DYE Uniform night. Kids will
actually tie dye a white uniform and end the glass with a water gun fight
out warrior dodge ball (just like regular dodge ball but you put all you
wave masters on the floor so the kids can take cover.)
I already know what you are thinking and I an thinking the same. There is
no way I want a school full of kids wearing a Tie Dyed uniform. I agree
however I can put up with it for a month if it's going to help with the
"FUN" factor and help with retention.
So just put a time limit for wearing their custom gi's. By the way this is
a great revenue generating event.
